Season 1 - 1983

Vince is working as an assistant branch manager in Eddie Brown's bookmakers - house sitting for its owner enjoying the single life.

Penny is working with as a secretary in an advertising agency Matthews Styles Lieberman - living with her parents awaiting her divorce.

The season deals with their meeting 5 years after Vince jilted Penny at the altar. Over the episodes they get back together as 'friends' and eventually set up flat together. It does not all turn out for the best but ends on an optimistic note.

We are introduced to Penny's parents Daphne and Norman (a wine salesman) and Vince's father Les (a scrap metal dealer) and brother Cliff (breaks things).

Smaller parts are taken as Lennie Vince's (should have been) best man - Penny's boss A J Styles (unseen) and her work colleague Elaine.

Season 2

Vince is still working as an assistant branch manager in Eddie Brown's bookmakers - by now is living at home.

Penny is still working with as a secretary in an advertising agency - and still living with her parents.

We are introduced to Rita Vince's mother with recoccurances by Lennie and A J Styles.

The season deals with Penny's emergence from her divorce into an independent woman with her own life again and ends well for her but not so for Vince who has not changed at all.

Special

Season 3

Things have moved on and both have done well.

Vince is now in charge of all his fathers business's and seems to be adding new ones left - right and centre "Pinner investments - Pinner enterprises - Pinner offshore holdings - Pinner ferris castings - Pinner securities - Pinner amalgamated - Pinner modes - Pinner kidicare and the cheeky chicken"

Penny is still with the same firm now based in Paris as the 'The Director Of Concept And Planning' (assistant).

Adversely the Pinners have risen and the Warrenders have fallen.

Over the series a lot of time passes as the battle axe Gina is introduced and the emphasis shift slightly to encompass more of the family situations. Oh Yes and Nobby - Lenny and Elaine are back.

Vince is trapped in marriage and seems almost beaten and uncaring and Penny seems completely self confident - then theres a fateful meeting on the Eiffel Tower
