Penny walks off and sits on a park bench but Vince does not follow. She senses a man sitting next to her and pours out her heart to him PENNY
"One side of me hates and mistrusts you while the other side simply finds you intensely irritating" The man leaves and Vince walks up from the other side - she pretends she has said nothing. The conversation picks up PENNY
"we were in love ... we were both in love trouble is we were both in love with you" They discuss how they were in love and Vince says he's not in love anymore and Penny accepts just to be friends. He invites her to see his new flat's decoration. Interior - Night - Vince's FlatPenny arrives and calls Vince on the intercom PENNY
"don't twot around Vince" They describe the flat VINCE
"very me" PENNY
"not very bright and difficult to find ... nice flat "in a greenshield stamp sort of way"."
The neighbours are a Young West Indian couple Floyd and Loretta have banned Vince from having parties. They sit down for the meal prepared from a takeaway PENNY
"I thought you said you can the home counties from here" VINCE
"you can" PENNY
"oh you meant the dairy" Vince tops up Penny's drink but only wets the side of his - he proposes a toast VINCE

"I'm virtually a vegetarian .. but I have a fatal love of bacon sandwiches" The conversation moves to her marriage to graham PENNY
"A fully fledged card carrying vegan into blood sports anti vivisection" VINCE

"When's the divorce coming through ?" PENNY
"next month" Penny is saddened by this and wants to go home. Vince is insisting she stays and phones her mother VINCE
"She'll have the entire coven out looking for you" PENNY
"No Vincent .. what about the washing up?" VINCE
"We'll do it the morning" PENNY
"I've still got my marriage license" VINCE
"I bet its got a few endorsements on it by now" Penny is adamant she will not stay so Vince moves the game up a gear VINCE
"I have not changed" PENNY
"That's not something to brag about" They recount how long they were engaged and how long they were going out for VINCE

"is that what I told you" they discuss life since the jilting Penny suggesting she could have had PENNY
"affairs with whole Tottenham Hotspur football team" VINCE
"that could explain their recent form" The talk wanders on to pregnancies VINCE
"you had more false alarms that the London fire brigade I wanted to marry the real you not the person you become You seemed to be on some sort of coaching course for motherhood All you ever talked about were nursery cribs and things that go burp in the night" PENNY
"look Vince we talked about starting a family" VINCE
"No you and you mother talked about starting a family I wanted to get a new bike You once used the word Placenta I tried to look it up on a map" PENNY
"And I suppose you thought the Fallopian tube was the Athens underground" Vince begins to turn the tables as his charm polishes up. he takes insults of insensitiveness and being a rat. PENNY
"I used to dream about you body I used to dream the police cam round and asked me to identify it" VINCE
"I feel pain as much as anyone maybe more since I've caused so much of it."

"Inbetween what might have been and what has come to pass A misbegotten guess alas and bits of broken glass. So take you time and think a lot but think of every thing you've got for you will still be here tomorrow but your dreams may not" PENNY
"Vince ... do you mind if I phone my mother ?" Interior - Night - Vince's BedroomPenny is in bed after making the phonecall and Vince walks in VINCE
"did you leave some money" He gets into bed and snuggles up to her she is nervous and wearing a pyjama jacket and vest (liar) for protection VINCE
"Don't be scare Pen I'm here Forget the past think about the future" PENNY
"I am thinking about the future - I'm thinking the next half-hour that's why I'm so tense" VINCE
"What do you want me to do run a Radox bath ... I'll sing for you Ossie going to Wembley" She asks for music and to prove he;s not insensitive he wheels in his stereo and speakers. He asks what she wants to hear VINCE
"Larry Alder live at the Woolwich Marmite factory Ronnie Renaldo whistles the Dooleys Barry Manilow songs for deaf lovers Aker Bilk - swapped for a book of embalming for beginners" As he returns Penny has taken the opportunity to get dressed and leave. Vince puts on a Cat Stevens record "He's a Muslim now" and they recount how they saw him in Hammersmith Odeon VINCE
"Is there any point in saying I'm sorry" PENNY
"he wasn't that bad" Vince is desperate for her to remain and offers her bacon sandwiches if she stays. The music in the background becomes more audible. And they relax back onto the bed. VINCE
"Don't rush away pen I did once and I lived to regret it" PENNY
"why do you have to be such a big fat rat ?" VINCE
"anyone ever told you you're a flash little cow ?" Unfortunately the music happens to that which Vince used the lyrics of in his poem. Penny sits colt upright as she recognises it. VINCE
"these things happen its called subconscious plagiarism" PENNY
"Where did the rest come from ?" VINCE
"straight from the heart and James Taylor LP" This time he lets her go knowing he's lost and says goodbye at the door PENNY
"now I'm late .. about 10 minutes" VINCE
"I would start worrying about it yet" Penny storms off "never call me again" and Vince goes to bed as the credits roll The phone rings and its is Penny telling Vince to phone her at work. He doesn't know the number PENNY
