Pioneer SX-535 Tuner
|
SENSITIVE FM TUNER SECTION
The SX-525 uses modern solid state circuitry throughout its sensitive FM front end to give you superb FM reception and tonal quality. An FET (field effect transistor) is used in the front end to raise sensitivity and image ratio while helping to prevent against irritating cross-modulation. The IF stretch of the front end is equipped with IC (integrated circuit) and ceramic filters to improve selectivity and capture ratio. Additionally, a switch ing type stereo demodulator is used to ensure fine separation over the very wide frequency range, while a discriminator am plifier assures sharp channel separation.
EFFECTIVE FM MUTING SWITCH
To eliminate undesirable, irritating inter-station noise on FM, the SX-525 is equipped with an FM muting switch. This circuit is also equipped with an FET and cuts out useless, too-weak FM station signals, leaving you with only the sound of high quality stations.
LARGE TUNING METER AND LINEAR DIal SCalE
Station tuning is easier than ever with Pioneer's large tuning meter and wide linear FM dial scale. The tuning meter is especially significant in helping to achieve maximum channel separation and tone quality. The linear dial scale is ideal for achieving perfect reception and minimum noise and distortion.
SUPREME VERSATILITY
You have a full choice of program sources with the SX-525. All standard program sources can be connected, including one turntable, two tape decks - reel to reel or cassette --, an auxiliary sound source as well as a microphone. Up to two pairs of speakers can be connected and operated individually or simul taneously with the SX-525 to permit easy comparison of speaker systems or remote speaker installations.

Pioneer CT-4141A Cassette Deck
| |
The Dolby noise reduction system is simply the best thing to happen to cassette tape since its invention several years ago. Built-in to the CT-4141, the Dolby unit helps to eliminate tape hiss by IOdB or more in the mid/high frequency range without sacrificing the tonal quality of the original program source. When used with the new high-performance chromium dioxide tapes, the Dolby system assures the ultimate cassette tape sound, comparable under most conditions to fine open-reel tape decks. The Dolby system works technological wonders to suppress irritating noise. During the recording process, the Dolby system picks up the very weak musical signals, the ones that are very close to the tape hiss noise level, and boosts the strengths of these signals above a preset limit away from the noise level. When played back, these signals are automatically downleveled and the noise level is simultaneously downleveled by the same preset degree. The result is that, during playback of the tape, the Dolby circuitry has lowered the originally boosted signals proportionately, thus suppressing noise and hiss without sacrificing the frequency characteristics and tonal quality of the original program signals.
CHROME TAPE SELECTOR
Chromium dioxide tape is the newest kind of cassette recording tape and highly-recommended for outstanding frequency response and a wide dynamic range. Although many cassette decks are not equipped to make recording this tape and achieve maximum results, the CT-4141 delivers its full benefits by the flick of a switch mounted on the control panel. This chrome tape selector is used exclusively for chrome tapes, and allows you to get the most out of your tape investment.
AUTOMATIC Stop MECHANISM
This mechanism is used to protect tapes and the internal mechanisms of the CT-4141. When your tape reaches its end, the push-button operating keys are automatically released and tape travels stops. This mechanism is designed to function in any of the four most common operating modes: play, fast wind, fast forward and record.
FERRITE SOLID head FOR LONG-LIFE
The high performance chromium tapes possess a 50% higher density of magnetic particles than conventional cassette tapes, and can therefore impair the conventional tape head over an extended period of time. Dura bility of the head is thus a key concern for all contemporary decks and the CT-4141 has one of the most durable of all. The ferrite solid head employed in the CT-4141 will give lifelong service and durability when used with any kind of tape. Additionally. you can expect a variety of other important bene fits from this head, including little loss of high frequency bias, magnetic power and improved frequency characteristics especially in the high fre quency ranges. The surface of this head is mirror-finished, to protect your tapes and to afford an extremely smooth head touch to the tape. This fine surfacing also contributes to dust-free usage of all tapes, and helps to suppress background noise that often occurs from magnetization.
TAPE RUNNING PILOT
Useful for determining if the unit is functioning in all modes, the easy-to-read tape running pilot rotates in a unique, colorful pattern to cate the direction of the tape. When the mode is set to "PLAY" the light rotates slowly. When set at "FAST WIND" or "FAST FORWARD" the light increases its speed. And while you're recording, the light changes to red to signal that the recording function is satisfactory.
ELECtrONIC-GOVERNER DC MOTOR
This new type of DC motor is distinguished by little or no vibration, no induced-hum noise and it offers an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio for both playback and record. The transistor circuit controls stable DC current to the motor, ensuring stable rotation of the motor against any line voltage fluctuation and variation of load impedance. It's one of the many features of the CT-4141 that adds up to impeccable sound and impeccable performance.
SKIP BUTTON
This button allows you, during playback, to quickly transport the tape while you monitor the playback sound, and thus assists you in easily locating the musical selection you desire. It's a unique feature, exclusive with the CT-4141.
PEAK INDICATOR
This indicator warns you of overleveling the input signals as you rec and is actually more sensitive than the level meter's needle. Employing a special semiconductor device, the peak-level indicator is also highly sensi tive in describing the transient peak-level.
OVER-LEVEL LIMITER
When you record, distortion is caused by input signals that are too strong (indicated by the meter's needle centering in the red zone), and subsequent playback of your tape will almost always be unsatisfactory in terms of reproduced sound. The over-level limiter prevents distortion when it is set to the "ON" position, since it monitors overstrength transient input signals. This useful device makes it easy to find selections on a recorded tape
MEMORY REWIND SWITCH
you set the three-digital tape counter at "000", then play or record your tapes, the cassette will automatically stop at "000" when you rewind again.

Pioneer CS-701A Speakers
| |
Gone are the days when a "bookshelf" system need sound as thin and dry as the pages of the books you place beside it. Robust, vivid reproduction is determined by the quality, not the size, of a speaker system. And Pioneer's compact CS-701 A is the proof. This 3-way 3-speaker system handles up to 90 watts of input and has high (93.5dB/W) sensitivity. It includes a large 30cm (12") woofer with high-compliance cloth edge for superb linearity against large signal input. The oofer cone is specially coated to improve transient charac stics and damping. The horn midrange, with a strong ite magnet in the driver, contributes to excellent transience and is ideally suited for dynamic midrange perfor mance in this highly musical system. For the highs, Pioneer has designed a multi-cellular horn tweeter for wide disper sion. Its polyester film diaphragm assures smooth response. A balanced crossover system with large ferrite core and indi vidual level controls, and the handsome, oil-finished, infinite baffle-type walnut enclosure complete the package. The CS-701A has literally taken the "bookish" sound out of "bookshelf" speaker systems. It's a whole new chapter in dynamic hi-fi performance from Pioneer.
3-WAY 3-SPEAKER DESIGN
(1) 30CM (12") WOOFER
Pioneer uses a high-compliance cloth edge for the woofer in the CS-701A so that the center suspension of the cone is properly aligned against excessively strong input. Cone paper and center cap are specially coated to suppress undesirable air leakage and to improve transience.
(2) HORN MIDRANGE
Crisp and vivid reproduction of the midrange frequencies where the fundamentals of nearly all musical instruments including the human voice are found -- is assured with this large midrange unit. Its strong ferrite magnet circuit and specially-coated cone diaphragm further enhance transient response and sound directionality.
(3) MULTI-CELLULAR HORN TWEETER
Polyester film, used in the tweeter diaphragm, is lightweight yet rigid, assuring the accurate and undistorted reproduction of the highs. The multi-cellular horn of the tweeter enables the dispersion of high-frequency sounds in far-reaching, over lapping patterns for ideal image location.
HIGH-POWER & HIGH-SENSITIVITY PERFORMANCE
The CS-701 A is compact but mighty. Maximum power handling capacity is 90 watts, meaning that you may use the system with amplifiers or receivers of higher-than-average power. But because the system has a high sensitivity of 93.5dB/W, rich sound and top performance is available even with medium to small-powered drive. In terms of operational convenience, the CS-701A is extremely versatile.
LOW-LOSS CROSSOVER NETWORK with LEVEL CONtrOLS
Durability against large signal inputs is essential, and Pioneer has used a large ferrite core with copper wire and low-loss capacitors in the crossover network of the CS-701 A to provide the assurance you need. Other network components are also selected with equal care, with emphasis on reliability and transient characteristics. The back-panel of the CS-701A has level controls to allow tonal adjustment to match room acoustics. At "NORMal," the controls provide flat response. Mid and High level controls increase or decrease response within a range of fl.5dB for midrange and +1.5dB and - 2.0dB in the highs.
HANDSOME WalNUT ENCLOSURE
Quality walnut, oil-finished to bring out the natural grain, is used on the enclosure, enhancing its fine furniture appearance. The removable front grille is the unique and eye pleasing double-cursive pattern, fronted with saran cloth. The Pioneer CS-701A is designed for bookshelf use and may be placed either vertically or horizontally.
HOWLING
"Howling" is acoustical feedback from speakers to the turntable unit. Increasing the distance between the speakers and the tumtable, or even better, laying a soft cushion beneath the turntable will eliminate howling.
